Just wanted to say thanks for commenting & as mentioned above & as you noted, it's worthwhile being aware (and respectful of) the different perspectives, and often helpful to push yourself out of your comfort zone on both the asking and receiving end.

Also, as you wrote, we can often be "brave" or more aggressive for others' sake (become an asker, when we're nomally a diviner), but may have much more difficulty, as you mentioned, when it comes to selling yourself. It may be helpful to create a persona and role play--literally put on a PR hat and advocate for your good friend, Selena. Whatever it takes to create a bit of distance!

And your insights on not approaching professionals with a professional question when they're in a non-professional situation is on target. But (depending on whether you're an asker or diviner!) you can always just ask if it's OK (or hint, delicately, that you're a writer & have a business question...)Isabel Swifthttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10973619994786192444noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-27126042.post-15648869018073496042011-03-25T01:28:29.309-04:002011-03-25T01:28:29.309-04:00Wendy, so glad you found it helpful--when I was fi...Wendy, so glad you found it helpful--when I was first introduced to the concept I felt the same way!

And agree, for me the biggest learning was to 'reach across the aisle' as a diviner/guesser and push myself to cut to the chase & ask more. And additionally, to STOP resenting people for asking! As Nancy Reagan famously said: "Just say No!"Isabel Swifthttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10973619994786192444noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-27126042.post-61837647392431548952011-03-24T12:57:24.062-04:002011-03-24T12:57:24.062-04:00Wow. Thank you.

I'm a guesser but have learned, professionally anyway, that asking leaves less room for misunderstanding and frustration.Wendy La Caprahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06603341707068466176noreply@blogger.com
